CLAIRAUDIENCE
Clairaudience means 'Clear Hearing'. The psychic ability to hear voices and sounds
not present to ordinary hearing,
Some clairaudients hear messages in thought form, while others hear voices quite distinctly.
Clairaudience is closely linked with clairvoyance. However, where a clairvoyant sees, a clairaudient hears.
Mediums exercise this skill when they hear messages from spirits. It is believed that the area of the brain just above the ears is processing the information for clairaudient experiences. This is where sounds perceived through the ears are interpreted as well as ESP information.
An example of a clairaudient is Joan of Arc who claimed she could hear voices that led her to her victory in the battle for her country. When she admitted this, she was burnt at the stake by the church for being blasphemous.
Clairaudience may be positively distinguished from the voices heard by the mentally ill when it reveals information unavailable to the clairaudient person by normal means, and thus may be termed "psychic" or paranormal.
Experienced mediums know how to ‘switch off’ at the end of a reading or demonstration to recharge their energy and as a safeguard.
